Japan

"Japan" is a work in progress. In May 2008 representatives from our sister city of Sasebo came to Coffs Harbour to instruct and advise on the building of this section. A Japanese Garden is not just a collection of plants, but also encompasses cultural and traditional aspects which make this an exciting place. Building has begun with rocks placed strategically near the lake, rich soil brought in and paths now wind through the new garden. A meditation garden is planned, and a small teahouse eventually will arise near the lakeside.

The Koinobori kites fly over the bridge in the Japanese section. A gift from the people of Sasebo, these kites fly over and around the lake on Childrens' Day (May) each year.
